FRIDAY 13TH DECEMBER

 

You can travel by bus (Primera Plus, 8:10am) or in your own car. During the first part of the trip you will see a wide range of cactacea, arriving at the reserve where there is nothing but green. Our meeting point is Jalpan at 11:30. From here we will travel to Ayutla, only 30kms from Jalpan, we will enjoy a walk along the river and, if you fancy a spot of swimming, this is the perfect place to refresh yourselves.

After that we will have some food and head towards Concá, where we will visit the Misión and the Árbol Milenario (Thousand Year Old Tree). We will spend the night in the eco-hotel inn Santa Ma de Cocos, where the locals will treat us to a tasty supper. And to finish the day off, we will have a bonfire beneath the stars.

 

 

SATURDAY 14TH DECEMBER

 

Today we will get up really early to climb, either by foot or on donkey, to the Sótano del Barro, where we will have the chance the see the last green macaw colony in the centre of the country, you can hear and see this wonderful bird, a truly unique experience.

 

On our return, there will be time to rest and then we will learn how to make tortillas in a workshop run by the locals. We’ll eat and then it’s time to dance! We will learn the guapango, traditional music of the region. In the night we celebrate in a traditional inn with all the locals, there will be tamales, atoles, piñata.

 

 

 

SUNDAY 15TH DECEMBER

 

After breakfast we will return to Jalpan, where we will have free time in the morning to go shopping, visit the Misión or museum and to finish off the day we will visit the dam where we can take a quiet, relaxing walk.
