" Embroidery with Nature Motifs" worshop

The embroidery workshop began its activities in 2004, and now consists of a group of 30 women from different communities, such as La Colgada and Agua del Maíz. In 2007, the group was established as a cooperative society.

The cooperative has been very successful due mainly to the fact that women craft their embroidery in their own homes while caring for their cattle and in their free time.

It is rewarding to watch how these women have not only benefited economically but how they have also experienced personal growth by developing a sense of security and self-esteem.

In January 2008, the inauguration of a workshop took place, and though it still has many needs, training and development of marketing strategies currently occurs here.

Ceramic workshop, "Cooperative society for the production of ceramics Soledad de Guadalupe"

This workshop employs 8 artisans from the Soledad de Guadalupe Community. Combining their innate sense of creativity with the professional training they hace received, these artisans create handicrafts made from both commercial dough and local clay. The finished product has an added value, reflecting the artistic spirit of the Sierra Gorda

This workshop, however, has an urgent need to find marketin channels and additional funding for site maintenance, training in product design, administration, accounting and it skills.

Carpentry Workshop "La Joya de los Durán" San Juan de los Durán

The carpentry workshop Joya de los Durán was established in 2001 to address the construction needs of a budding community tourist project. Tourist accommodations had been constructed although there were still furnishings needed for the cabins. Once completed, the carpentry workshop remained opened as a productive community project. This workshop is composed of 15 associates, although due to a serious problem of forest plagues in the region, most of the men in the community are dedicated to the implementation of corrective measures of forest sanitation established by the authorities, leaving the carpentry in the hands of only two people, who work there permanently manufacturing furniture and other decorative objects.

The workshop needs marketing training, product design training and project monitoring strategies as well.
